Harpist Vonda Darr traveled from North Carolina to be a part of the Aiken Choral Society's “A Ceremony of Carols” Christmas concert today at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.

It's been a while since I've been with them, because I moved, so I'm excited to play with them again, Darr said.

Her 36 years of experience will contribute to the choir singing such pieces as Christmas spirituals and Australian songs.

The concert is held in honor of English composer Benjamin Britten's upcoming 100th birthday in November 2013, Maureen Simpson, society director, said.

The concert's title came from the Britten song “Ceremony of Carols,” which will be performed at the concert and will be Darr's main number.

Tickets are $15 and are available at the Aiken Historical Museum, 433 Newberry St. S.W., and at the door.

The concert will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 100 Cornerstone Drive, next to Hitchcock Crossing subdivision.

ASTV channel 95 will air the premiere performance at a later date.
