Park Avenue house broken into

An Aiken woman told police her home was broken into sometime during the 15 minutes that she was away from it on Monday night, according to reports.

The woman told officers she left her Park Avenue home around 6:45 p.m. on Monday and returned at 7 p.m. to find a pane of glass in the front door broken out, according to the report. Several cabinets inside the home had been rummaged through, and several guns were found lying on a bed while other guns were undisturbed.

Outside the home, several more guns belonging to the homeowner were found on the ground, according to the report. Also on the scene was a prescription bottle containing several marijuana roaches.

Police respond to attempted shoplifting

Aiken Public Safety responded to a shoplifting at Walmart on Richland Avenue on Monday.

An unknown man reportedly tried to return merchandise from the store that he had not purchased. Surveillance footage shows the man entering the store, grabbing a shopping cart, filling it with several items from the pet department and grocery area and proceeding to customer service, where he tried to return the merchandise he had just retrieved from inside the store.

He fled the scene when confronted by a store employee.
