The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department is sponsoring Turkey Time Activities this Friday.

The event is for children ages 4 to 13 and will feature a variety of activities and contests to promote a healthier lifestyle. The cost is $5 per child.

Turkey Time Activities will be held at the Smith-Hazel Recreation Center.

Children can see how many baskets they can score during the basketball shoot-out. To win a Thanksgiving turkey, walk as many times around the gym as you can. The person who completes the most laps around the gym in the turkey walk will receive a frozen turkey, according to Linthia Perry with Aiken PRT.

Certificates will be given to each participants, and other prizes are up for grabs like gift cards and door prizes.

The deadline to register is Thursday. Registration must be completed in person at Smith-Hazel.

Smith Hazel is located at 400 Kershaw St. N.E. Call 642-7634 for more information.
