The Old Edgefield Genealogy Society will meet at 3 p.m. today at the Lynch Building Annex of the Tompkins Library in Edgefield. Speaker will be Richard Fowler, on “Influence of Presbyterianism on the Settling of Upstate South Carolina.”

“Taking Notes: Jazz and the American Story” will be presented by the Center for African American History, Art & Culture from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Second Baptist Church at 425 Hampton Ave. N.W. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and ages 5 and younger will be admitted free. David Tavernier, author of “Stories of the Rich and Famous: Aiken’s Winter Colony in the Gilded Age,” will sign copies of the book from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. today at Aiken Office Supply on Whiskey Road.

The 26th Annual Christmas Made in the South craft show will be today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the James Brown Arena on 7th Street in Augusta. Admission is $6 and ages 12 and younger will be admitted free.

MONDAY

The North Augusta Council of Garden Clubs will hold its annual educational forum on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the North Augusta Community Center. Admission is free and the public is welcome. Guest speaker will be Mary White of the Aiken County Historical Museum, in the role of Rosie the Riveter. An election will be held for the group’s 2013 officers, and refreshments will be served.

The Birds & Butterflies of Aiken Nature Series will continue with “Images of the Amazon and Galapagos Islands” on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at 117 Laurens St. N.W. Be transported to the Amazon River and Galapagos Islands through the camera lens of Aiken’s Forrest Roberts. Space is limited, so reservations are required by calling 649-7999. There is a $5 nonrefundable charge for each seminar when the reservation is made. Children 16 and under are free.
