LETTER: Opposes change in form of government

I disagree with County Councilmembers Chuck Smith and Scott Singer. As a former Aiken County auditor employee, the auditor office should be an elected position. County Council is an elected position, the same as the auditor and treasurer office.

Having the treasurer and auditor office remain elected positions, is what is best for Aiken County. These offices are held by state law. These offices are held to a higher standard.

By having these offices appointed, it gives county council too much power. Therefore these offices should stay as elected positions.
