Michael House and Sam Britt's Gabriel Charles definitely showed he was in charge as the juvenile colt drew clear to claim his first stakes score in the 6 1/2-furlong Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Preview Stakes Saturday at Santa Anita Park. The bay son of Street Hero was bred by Dr. Doris Tumillo, and was sales prepped at the Palmetto Thoroughbred Training Center by James Layden. Gabriel Charles is out of Tummillo's stakes placed mare Star of Atticus, and Gabriel Charles was the producer's thrid winner. It wa Gabriel Charles turf debut.

Gabriel Charles was consigned by Price Thoroughbreds at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company 2012 April Two-Year-Olds in training Sale, and was purchased for $160,000. It was the juvenile colt's second victory, after two disappointing finishes in Grade 1 company.

“He was a good looking colt,” said Tummillo.
