Morgan graduates basic training
Army PFC Stephen J. Morgan graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson in Columbia on Aug. 2.
During the 10 weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills.
The soldier also studied armed and unarmed combat, field tactics, grenade throwing, military courtesy, military weapons and chemical warfare.
The soldier also studied drill and ceremony marching, rifle marksmanship, foot marches, basic first aid and many field training exercises.
Morgan is the son of Roy L. and Angela B. Morgan of Aiken, brother of Mindy Morgan Felkel of Lexington and Bradley L. “Brad” Morgan of Aiken. He is the uncle of 2-year-old Aaron Connor Felkel of Lexington.
Morgan is the grandson of Johanna Blankenbeckler and the late Charlie D. Blankenbeckler of Kingsport, Tenn., Margie Morgan of Aiken, and the late Guy L. Morgan of Graniteville.
He is a 2008 graduate of South Aiken High School and 2011 graduate of Aiken Technical College with an associate’s degree in public service with a major in criminal justice.
Morgan is currently in ROTC at USC Upstate in Spartanburg, working toward a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
