For those in interested in improving their homes, a stop by the Prestige Appliance and Aiken Standard's 2012 Aiken Home Show this weekend could prove useful.
Vendors such as Prestige Appliance, SRP Federal Credit Union, Tub Doctor and Crawford Cabinets will pack the main floor of the USC Aiken Convocation Center, while Palmetto Alarm, Cold Creek Nurseries and Cutco Cutlery will scatter around on the second level. The Home Show will be held on Friday from noon to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“One of the main reasons Prestige Appliance sponsored was so we can showcase our products to the CSRA,” said Doug Huffer with Prestige Appliance.
The store prides itself on servicing the appliances it sells at low prices.
In addition to vendors, the Home Show will offer chances to win several door prizes. On Friday, those in attendance can enter to win the Backyard Spruce Up which includes a $500 Sears gift card, a Craftsman self-propelled EZ lawn mower, Craftsman WeedWacker; Kamado Joe BigJoe grill from Fireside Outdoor Kitchen and Grills; and trees and shrubs from Cold Creek Nurseries. The drawing will be held on Friday.
On Saturday, show-goers can enter to win the Kitchen Facelift appliance package which includes the installation of up to 60 square feet of Silestone countertop. The drawing for the prize will be held on Saturday.
Both prizes include a $2,000 cash prize.
To enter the contest, attendants must get a form and have it checked off at each booth.
Affordable Quality Marble and Granite, a 6-year-old business on Wagener Road, provided the countertops for the Kitchen Facelift package, aid Chris Hildebrand, the business' owner.
Hildebrand wanted to get the word out about his business, which specializes in tile and countertops, and to let people know that a new show room will be opening soon on Whiskey Road.
“I'm optimistic,” he said about the Home Show. “There's a lot of competition with other stores. I hope it's what it's expected to be.”
Other items available to win at the show include a 42-inch LG LED LCD TV from the Bates & Sons Inc. booth and a 46-inch 3D LED Samsung TV that includes installation, two sets of 3D glasses, and Blu-ray player from the WHAV Inc. booth.
Other vendors will have door prizes, as well.
