The Aiken Department Public Safety is searching for two men they say robbed a Richland Avenue drug store at gunpoint this afternoon.
Capt. David Turno said two men entered Lominick’s Pharmacy around 12:15 p.m., produced a semi-automatic handgun and demanded prescription narcotics from the clerk.
One robber is described as a hispanic man, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds and wearing a gray jacket and a backpack. The other suspect was described as a black male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 250 pounds and wearing a brown jacket with a yellow stripe, police said.
“They were able to leave with an undisclosed amount at this time,” Turno said of the stolen drugs. “We’re still looking for them, and we have a perimeter set up. The bloodhounds are here, and we’re working that right now.”
Turno said the men fled on foot out of the front door of the store and down Waterloo Street toward the back end of the business.
Investigators from public safety and the Aiken County Bloodhound Team were still on the scene this afternoon.
Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call public safety at 803-642-7620, or Crimestoppers of the Midlands at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Callers can remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
