The annual STAR Riding Inc. Oyster Roast will once again be held at Black Forest Equestrian Center on Oct. 12 from 6 to 9 p.m.
STAR Riding Inc. is a non-profit organization that has been helping people with disabilities in the CSRA improve their quality of life for more than 15 years through safely interacting with horses.
The event, a main fundraiser for the organization, will once again feature live bluegrass music, full cash bar, silent auction, a 50/50 drawing, oysters, gumbo, Papa Russ’s BBQ and cookies prepared by the Aiken Country Tri-Development Busy Bakers.
“I want Ivan and Kathy Lewis to know how much we appreciate them for hosting the event at Black Forest,” said Kerri Creamer, STAR Riding Inc. program coordinator. “It’s an incredible place to hold the roast.”
Tickets can be purchased for $30 in advance and can be bought at Aiken Saddlery and Boots, Bridles and Britches; at the door, they will be $35.
STAR Riding is a Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International affiliate.
The equine facilitated therapeutic program is based at Hopeland Farms and continues to have a positive impact on participants in a number of ways including improving strength, balance and mobility.
Black Forest Equestrian Center is located on 4343 Banks Mill Road.
