Ford CEO makes special delivery in Aiken

The president and CEO of Ford Motor Company, based out of Dearborn, Mich., came to Aiken on Friday to keep a promise to a friend.Alan Mulally visited Satcher Ford Lincoln Mercury on Friday, where his friend, Rob Johnston of Aiken, picked up his new F150 Ford truck.Johnston owned an F150 previously, sold it, then regretted it, he said Friday."If you buy this truck, I'll come deliver it," Mulally had said to Johnston.Johnston didn't believe him at first, he said, but he asked him to come to Satcher Ford Lincoln Mercury, of which Johnston's high school friend Rick Heath is the president, and Mulally did."The CEO of Ford brought my little truck down to me," Johnston said with a laugh Friday.Mulally said he planned to spend the night at The Willcox on Friday and enjoy Aiken with his friends before heading back to Michigan today.Contact Anna Dolianitis at adolianitis@aikenstandard.com.
