Whitson-Champy wedding

Holly Jacqueline Champy of Beech Island and Robert Trent Whitson of New Ellenton were married May 30, 2009, in Aiken at Cedar Creek Church. The bride was given in marriage by her parents. The Rev. Phillip Lee officiated.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Champy Jr. of Beech Island and Mr. and Mrs. Milton G. Kooyman Jr. of Smithton, Ill. She is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley F. Goodman of Aiken; Mr. and Mrs. John C. Champy Sr. of Williston; Mr. Milton G. Kooyman Sr. of Atlanta, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Julian A. Speering.

The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. David A. Whitson of New Ellenton. He is a grandson of Mrs. Beverly P. Crawford and the late Wiley Eugene Crawford and the late Mr. and Mrs. Kettry E. Whitson.

Jessica Baumgardner of North Augusta, friend of the bride, was the maid of honor. Miranda Whitson of New Ellenton, sister-in-law of the groom, was the matron of honor. Joan Wittler of Lexington, aunt of the bride, and Misty Kelley of Aiken, friend of the bride, were the bridesmaids. Sara Gainey of Williston, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.

David Whitson of New Ellenton, father of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were Tavis Whitson of New Ellenton, brother of the groom; Blake Bowers of New Ellenton, cousin of the groom; and Brandon Heath of Aiken, friend of the groom. Nicholas Champy of Beech Island, brother of the bride, and Chadwick Champy of Beech Island, brother of the bride, were the junior groomsmen.

Zachary Whitson of New Ellenton, nephew of the groom, was the ringbearer.

Kaylie Whitson of New Ellenton, niece of the groom, was the flower girl.

Following a reception in Jackson, the couple left for a wedding trip to Kissimmee, Fla.

They will reside in New Ellenton.

The bride is a 2005 graduate of Silver Bluff High School. She will graduate in December 2009 from USCA with a degree in elementary education. She is employed the YMCA in Aiken.

The bridegroom is a 2004 graduate of Silver Bluff High School. He is employed by E2 Consulting Engineers.
