One person is dead after a Tuesday night shooting in Wagener.
Around 7:30 p.m., deputies responded to the 200 block of Jeffcoat Road in reference to a shooting incident and found a male with a gunshot wound to the head, according to a news release from the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
A witness told police that the gunman, a Black male wearing a white tank top and black sweatpants, ran from the house before deputies arrived.
The victim was taken to an area hospital by Aiken County EMS with critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police are searching for a suspect in the area of Jeffcoat Road toward the edge of Wagener's town limits.
Police have not identified the gunman. Police said the alleged gunman should be consider armed and dangerous.
