USC Aiken pitcher Jared Huse has been named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office.

A native of Buford, Ga., Huse was sensational in his lone appearance of the week.

In the middle game of the series against Columbus State, Huse entered the game in the top of the seventh inning with a 5-3 lead.

He promptly struck out the first batter he faced. Huse forced a groundout and struck out another batter to conclude the seventh.

Huse recorded back-to-back strikeouts and a fly ball out to retire the eighth in order. In the ninth, he struck out the first two batters before forcing a fly ball out to end the game.

Overall, Huse had six strikeouts and retired all nine batters in order. He picked up his first career save in the stellar outing.
