GEORGIA SOUTHWESTERN 12, USC AIKEN 0 (8 innings)

A pitchers' duel through four innings turned into a run-rule loss for the USC Aiken baseball team on Saturday against Georgia Southwestern at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.

USCA (25-16, 17-6 Peach Belt Conference) starting pitcher Joel Haney (3-4) didn't allow a hit over the first four innings but ended up taking the loss after the Hurricanes scored twice in the fifth and four more times in the sixth. He gave up seven hits and struck out two over six full innings.

On the other side, Georgia Southwestern's Rijnaldo Euson (7-1) continued pitching well. He tossed seven shutout innings, allowing five hits while striking out five, and after Jacob McClure allowed a pair of hits Colby Gordon recorded the final three outs to finish off the victory.

Joseph Mozingo and Kaden Usry each recorded two of the Pacers' seven hits. USCA stranded nine runners, four of them in scoring position.

Cole Evilsizor relieved Haney in the top of the seventh, allowing two runs on a hit and a walk. Luke Parker pitched the top of the eighth, allowing four runs on three hits.

USCA will look to avoid the sweep when the teams meet at 1 p.m. Sunday for the series finale.
