TalkBack for Dec. 1
Barack Obama
So much talk has been going on in the TalkBack about completely arbitrary things like atheism, crepe myrtles and health care lately, and I feel like we're forgetting one of the most important issues we're facing in the local community. Tusken Raiders have taken over our once beautiful planet Tattooine, and I feel we may be losing our way of life to their hostile tactics. These filthy Sand People frequently attack our moisture farms and kidnap our women, so why hasn't the Obama administration done anything about it?
Once and for all can we put to rest that Barack Obama is not African-American. According to Webster's Dictionary, Obama is mulatto, which is a person who is a first-generation child of a black person and a white person. I am tired of the inaccurate reference used over and over again.
Immigration
In this bad economy we hear how much waste there is, but how come we never hear how much it costs to round up the same illegal coming across the border time after time? I'll bet the cost has been staggering since the 1940s, yet there's still no solution. It's time to bill Mexico for their lack of border patrols. If they don't pay, let's cancel NAFTA. Oh, but wait. How about the American companies that sent their manufacturing there for cheap labor? Guess the laughs on us because that did nothing to stop the problem, and it just moved our jobs south of the border for bigger corporate profits.
Religion
Why do ministers and ushers try to encourage and sometimes make you seat near the front in church? My eyesight and hearing are perfect so if I come to church I should be able to seat where I want to. They need to put the pews in a circle with the pastor in the middle if they want everyone to be seated in the front.
Christianity is one of the few religions that torture the dead, "as in burning in hell for eternity." Is spirituality important? Of course, it generally improves one's life if one believes in something bigger than oneself. However, I do not believe there is only one "right" religion in the world. I do not think that within the Jewish faith, Hinduism, Muslims, Buddhists or the Christian faith one is better than the other, as some religions claim.
