TalkBack for Oct. 12 10/11/2009 7:17 PM State of nation
Yes, we do have a lot of time on our hands. We are unemployed, thanks to this administration's anti-private sector policies. I also offer up the reason Chicago was not chosen for the Olympics. Obama has been disrespectful of his country, not vice versa.
Health care
Before you get too impressed with the white-clad "doctors" surrounding Obama supporting his latest pitch for government-run health care, you should be aware that this was a carefully staged show by an organization called DFA (Doctors for America). Cofounders are financial supporters of Obama and were active advisers on his campaign team. This was definitely not a grassroots show from the heartland of America by concerned medical people. They are part of Organizing for America, an Obama campaign arm, and are behind a massive ad, letter-writing and aggressive pushing of the Democrats' government health care takeover. The question is, would you want any of these doctors as yours?
Drug cleanup
I'm a Wagener resident, and I want to know why the police can't clean up the drug activity in this city. There is one major player, yet the police can't seem to catch him.
Burning ban
Aiken County Council needs to implement the no-burning policy in the county. We need to have fresh air on these nice fall days. People are burning and burning and burning.
Barbecue
If Obama came down and tasted our fine barbecue, he would force the restaurants to be open seven days a week. He would also make sure all Democrats eat free.
Leaf blowing
Leaf blowing in the dark is not a good idea. It causes the dogs to bark. Please refrain from doing this.
Banks' bailout
I can see why the banks have to have a federal bailout. Their advertising executive must have been trained by ACORN. They waste so much money on advertising and pay next to nothing on CDs.

Comment Title: Burning
Theere should NOT be a ban on burning. Cite/fine the ones whose fires get out of hand or needs assistance rom the FD.Stay inside if you don't like the smell of burning leaves or camp fires- most people do.

A Republican Conservative Christian only. cares about a baby until it is born, then to hell with it! Every person for themselves.

I thought a human fetus was a baby. If a pregnant woman was hurt by a mugger and her fetus died, would the mugger be charged with murder or manslaughter.

This is a perfect example of a corporate death panel in action. If the republicans are worried about death panels, they should complain about the insurance companies first.

Please, you have to understand this from a Republican point of view - A fetus is more important than a baby!

Comment Title: Obese Baby
Health Insurance is not a right. Insurance companies just like Wal-Mart, Captain Ds, or Bank of America can refuse to service to anyone. If someone can't afford to pay for healthcare for a baby then they shouldn't be reproducing.

This is an example of how out of touch urban citizens are with reality. Environmentalism has become a policy of coercion to achieve control over others based on beliefs rather than fact. It is irresponsible to advance this pseudo science as fact and to attempt to capitalize on people’s fears to advance a no burn agenda. For those of us that own and use a gas powered chain saw, stand up to this drivel.

As long as the person remains responsible and keeps control of the fire, there is no reason for the extra expense of taking brush to the landfill, and the increased operational costs/land use required of the landfill to dispose of it. This is true *especially* in rural areas, where the smoke has less effect on neighbors. And I don't care how big the fire is as long as the owners are responsible and can keep it under control.

Comment Title: Criminal domestic violence
I was just looking at something written by peepers. And I think I know this guy, being referred to.. He's been hitting on me. He drives a dragster at the Orangeberg Racetrack, He is very dangerous and he scares me. What's up with the county protecting sexual predators. This must be the same guy because he is impervious he says no one can touch me. So what's the deal is he buying someone off.

You ever think to ask where they get the air to test for quality? How about in Jackson, right across from all the chemical plants in Augusta! You ever think about what would happen to the land fills if everybody starts dumping their brush? How about all the trips they will make and all the trips the garbage trucks will make? Will that increase air quility?

Bush had 8 years to destroy the country and then left Obama to clean up the mess.

That's the problem with todays kids... They just lie around waiting to be fed, changed and put to sleep... When I was an infant, I had to crawl to child care, uphill, both ways...

Comment Title: Aiken County Prosecutor
I think that pending cases on people charged with Criminal Domestic Violence should be considered promptly when a person's past criminal history reflect that they are registered sex offenders. There is one pending now in Aiken County and I know the abused spouse who is now living out of state would like to see some justice soon since it is getting close a year when this domestic violence first took place.

I think that the Nobel Peace Prize should have went to a more deserving person. It appears that it was more political this time around.

Hey I know plenty of people that are working to become doctors b/c they love everything about the profession. Not everyone gets a job b/c of the money....

Why would I want a "Doctors for America" doctor, who wants to help me and my health, when I can have one who is only in the business to get rich?

Of course everything Obama does is carefully staged. The bulk of his electorate is ignorant, needy, greedy, and gullible.
