Talkback for May 27
5/27/2009 12:26 AM
Tommy Moore

Tommy Moore sold out. At least he has one friend left.

Leadership

The teachers of Aiken High should know the definition of leadership is not favoritism.

Too far away

Where are the students from New Ellenton going to be put? You would have to build another school. It's too far to bus them.

Revolution

The firings of Aiken County School System retirees bring back visions of the Chinese Cultural Revolution when the best and the brightest were banished to teach no more. Chairman Everitt's devastation upon Aiken County will be felt for years and our rebound will only begin when she, a retiree, leaves.

Be grateful

Instead of complaining about the crime, be grateful that there is law enforcement in Aiken County that is on the ball and bring them to justice. What the sheriff is doing is publicizing the crime they saw because nothing is crime free.

Bruce if you don't like it, leave it! I-20 runs east and west, I-95 north and south. Take your pick and don't let the door hit you were the good Lord split you. Now here's the boot. Go, scram and good riddance.

Comment Title: GED Sheriff
Aiken is so backward that they only have a GED educated sheriff. It seems like with the influx of educated people at the Savannah River Plant they could find someone with some education to be sheriff. Valley Rat GED educated Mike Hunt has cost the taxpayers so much money with his mismanagement of the sheriff's office.

Comment Title: Trying to understand it
Thanks for the reponses. But I have another question. What do the other members of the school board do? I mean if this lady is full of it, then why is she here? So is it like everything else...it's just politics. That's bull, every person working for our public schools should get paid the same amount as teachers do, that'll weed out the people that really care and have the best intrest in our kids. Teachers are the ones doing the work, hands on with our kids, LEARNIN' THEM, and this lady Ms. Everitt does nothing and gets paid ...WTF?????!!!!!!

You let those crack houses prune their crepe myrtles and see how fast they get in trouble.

Comment Title: Sheriff Hunt...
If he's doing such a good job, then why are there 3 crack houses that he is fully aware of within a stones throw of downtown Aiken that are brazenly open for business RIGHT NOW. Some people are so sheltered it's pathetic.

Comment Title: Mamasita...
I happen to know for a fact that she does very little. She shakes hands and kisses babies when everyone's looking, but when they aren't, she refuses to even fix her own cup of coffee or order her own take-out. I don't know what other things have entered our state by way of New Mexico , but she MUST be the worst. She is a first class pompous bitch. Other than that, she's okay. ;)

From what I can understand, glean and read about Ms. Everitt, she does a very nice job of warming her chair, for which she is handsomely paid !

Comment Title: favoritism
In this town, ability, qualifications and intelligence get you nowhere. It is who you know, or who your parents know that matters. As long as this unfair behavior is tolerated, it will continue, but it is typical oppressive small town behavior.

Comment Title:
I'd like to know, EDUCATE ME, but what does Ms. Everitt (chairman) do? Why is her job so very importmant?

Comment Title: New Ellenton Middle
New Ellenton Middle needs to stay,we don't want our children to be sent to Jackson.

Posted by: On: 5/27/2009

Comment Title: Aiken High favoritism
That seems to be they way at AHS...especially the new horticulture teacher....It doesn't matter how good you are or what you do there...you just have to be involved with all the drama to get anything or anywhere in that class

Why not start a poet’s corner? T’would be humorous at worst You’d get the support from quite a few Of those of us lightly versed. Why not start a poet’s corner? You already have your talk back We who can write might moderate our spite If in verse we bemoan what we lack. Why not start a poet’s corner? T’would be fun you’ll have to admit To rant and to rave and try to behave While ending or stretching one’s wit. To finish this out lest I leave here remiss Poet’s corner, my dear standard, or my lass you may kiss. (Though that really won’t go, for this lass you must know: She’s not nearly as nice as your sis.) svg
