TalkBack for April 2
4/1/2009 11:40 PM
Sheriff Hunt

Please stop complaining about Sheriff Hunt and be glad he doesn't turn his head the other way when employees break departmental policies.

I applaud the people calling for Sheriff Hunt's resignation. It's sad when I can't tell my son why the sheriff's cars don't obey the speed limit in school zones. They are not above the law.

Slow down

Why do the people that drive through the Cedar Creek neighborhood fine it necessary to go 50 mph? Club Drive is not an interstate highway. Visiting? Slow down! Passing through? Stop it! Resident? Move!

Tattoo parlor

A word of warning about the Windsor mayor's endorsement of a tattoo parlor.¬ In our small New England town, as soon as one tattoo parlor was allowed, very soon there was one on every downtown block.¬ The town quickly went from quaint to tacky.¬ The "colorful" clients liked to hang outside and smoke which added greatly to the decline of the family-friendly atmosphere. Stop them at all cost!

Double-dipping

Mr. Ryberg calls it double-dipping. If he¬ wants to save money, he should stop government workers from taking retirement one day and going back to work the next. Now that's double-dipping for sure. The working person that gets laid off may need the severance earned for years worked, and the unemployment, to support and keep their home in¬ the hard times they are facing. Not that he would know with his millions.

New Ellenton

New Ellenton is incorporated and has it's own police department just like Burnettown, North Augusta and the City of Aiken. Aiken County can't police New Ellenton.

The voters of New Ellenton who turned out let the mayor know they are taking back their city from an out-of-control mayor and Council.

Where is the press release from Mayor Dunbar congratulating the election of the new Councilman? He couldn't wait to announce the departure of Smith.

Comment Title:
What in the world is the Aiken County BOE thinking? Now they are moving teachers and coaches to other schools for who knows why? I'm talking schools that don't even have enough coaches as it is. How do you justify this? I know there are those that don't consider athletics necessary but there are so many students that benefit from participating in sports programs. There's much more to it than what takes place during a game. Please contact your BOE representative and let them know your opinion!!

Comment Title: time to investigate
With the way the acso is being run at the top, maybe it is time to have them investigated by Strom Thurmond Jr., SLED and the Feds to clean house and and provide some whistle blower protection so that the deputies will come forward and tell the truth without the fear of losing their job. Could the acso also put out a media report about the person in the office that broke his arm on a prisoner and what happened to that person and is the prisoner suing over it? Why was this kept quiet? Other than being a budy of Mike Hunts.

Comment Title: HUNT NEEDS TO GO!
Mike Hunt may have been good when he was first elected and that is all the Hunt lovers know. The things that he has dismissed people for is the same kind of things that he does on a regular basis, the deputies need their jobs and can not and will not come forward because of this. Remember, the media only hears what HE wants them to hear. The citizens of Aiken County need to see both sides of everything, the good and the bad and in his case the bad outweighs the good, he needs to remember that what goes around comes around.

Comment Title: Cedar Creek
I don't know who thinks residents of Cedar Creek don't get speeding tickets on White Pond Rd. NEWSFLASH I've gotten 2 and New Ellenton makes a killing off of our water bill. I bet yours isn't $200+ monthly for a home of only 2. Check your facts. As far as Hugh Ray he does his job great and did it great when he was at the New Ellenton PD full time!

Comment Title: ACSO Complaints
The complaints used to be toward the officers of the ACSO now they are directed toward the Sheriff because nothing has been done about the officers that don't do their jobs legally. The Sheriff just needs to crack down on his staff and check into some of the complaints & rumors he will find truth to them and maybe just maybe take some much needed action against his employees. Don't get me wrong not all are bad but there are a good bit and they know exactly who they are!

Comment Title: Speeders
Cedar Creek Moochers Cedar Creek residents are constantly mooching free services from New Ellenton. Police Patrols for free. Andy Olsen thinks he should be on the New Ellenton Water Commission. (Cedar Creek is in the County). Andy receives a personal call to let him know when a CPW meeting is going to be held. Hugh Ray ( X Police Chief of New Ellenton )works for Cedar Creek now) Cedar Creek residents do not receive speeding citations from New Ellenton if traveling White Pond Road. Cedar Creek is not hooked up to the sewer system that was initially installed for them and put New Ellenton into bankruptcy and Mayor Shaw in jail. Hugh Ray is a part time police officer for New Ellenton, see the connection? Cedar Creek is a bunch of Elitist, Or so they think. No mention in the standard of two suicides in Cedar Creek, it was kept quiet. The list goes own.

Comment Title: Mayor Dunbar
Dunbar has lost the support of the Democratic Party in New Ellenton. He hand picked Darcia Rolland to run for the council. Also, Darcia just happens to be the nice of councilman Terrance Williams. Dunbar needed a another yes person to go along with Maddox and Braswell to control the council and pass his agendas.

Comment Title: Slow Down
I can't believe the Cedar Creek residents are complaining about speeders, they have the best FREE police services money CAN'T buy from New Ellenton. Maybe, just maybe you should look with in,the speeders could be your own residents. Outsiders are not welcome, read your own signs moochers.
