TalkBack for March 16
Mexico
The fact that Mexico is part of North America is not debatable for the very reason that it is fact. Get a dictionary and look up Mexico and/or North America. Don't they teach this stuff in school anymore?
Please don't call into the TalkBack unless you are educated. Mexico is part of North America.
Upgrade
It's great to see the upgrade on Richland Avenue, but what about Whiskey Road? It is so bumpy in front of Security Federal.
Recycling
The bags used to deliver the Aiken Standard are great for baby diapers. This is a good way to recycle the bags.
Kudos
I would like to thank the people who have cleaned up Pinecrest. It looks so nice. They need to clean up the corner of Morgan.
Thanks to the people who cleaned up Route 78 just outside Montmorenci. It has been an eyesore for years.
Thank you to the Aiken policeman who took his time to speak to me while on break. I approached him about a family problem and he was kind and caring and gave me good advice. We have the finest policemen in the state.
TalkBack
The paper is filled with serious stuff; does TalkBack really need to be serious? It's a great place for goofs to call.
The issue about TalkBack is not that it exists but rather the mean-spirited, negative, uneducated comments that are published. Those types of comments reflect badly on our community and incite hard feelings (i.e.. "those Northerners," the "gated development," the "teachers' retreat") and are just plain ignorant. By several accounts, other contributions are never seen. Who makes the decision about which comments are published?
Today in History
I enjoy the Today in History section, and it is so interesting and educational to read. I was confused by today's regarding where New Netherland is. I'm not familiar with this.
