100-year-old woman get $54 in unclaimed money
SPARTANBURG (AP) -- State Treasurer Converse Chellis has personally delivered a check to someone with unclaimed property.
Chellis says he took the check for $54.74 to 100-year-old Hattie Miller on Thursday because Miller might be the oldest person to ever receive unclaimed property in the country.
Miller says a niece found out she was owed the money after hearing about South Carolina's unclaimed property Web site.
Chellis gave Miller her check at the Happy Home Adult Day Care Center in Spartanburg.
