Margaret Alberta Cromer Smith
Mrs. Margaret Alberta Cromer Smith, 101, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009.
Private graveside services were held in Bethany Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born in Fayetteville, Ga., a daughter of the late William P. and Margaret Mitchell Cromer. She moved to Aiken in 1927 and was a secretary for the Honorable Strom Thurmond Sr. as well as a former court stenographer. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Patti (Bill) Hyman of Huntsville, Ala.; her son, James C. (Terry) Smith Sr. of Lexington; grandchildren, Elizabeth P. Smith Willis, James C. Smith and David Hyman; and a niece, Penny Monteiro.
