Joe J. Hurt Sr.
Entered into eternal rest on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, Mr. Joe J. Hurt Sr., 80, of Clearwater, son of the late Joseph Hurt and the late Ruby Anderson Hurt. He is survived by a son, Joe J. Hurt Jr. of Columbia County, Ga.; daughters, Judy Ann Dotson of Aiken, Doris Clark of North Carolina and Cynthia Lewis of Graniteville; a brother, Barkwell Hurt of North Carolina; and a daughter-in-law, Dana Hurt of Beech Island, who was like a daughter and also his faithful caregiver; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith. He was born in McCray, Ga., but had been a lifelong resident of Aiken County. He was a retired security guard and a U.S. Army veteran having served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a loving and caring father who really loved his children and grandchildren. He will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. A celebration of life will be held at a date and time to be announced. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Graniteville.
