Alice Hennings
Alice Hennings
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, the family moved to Aiken in 1973. She was the daughter of the late Amelia and Sebastian Augusto who immigrated to the United States from Portugal. Her parents became naturalized citizens of the United States and raised her in their American home. Although her primary language was English, she spoke Portuguese as well. She remained in contact with relatives in Portugal throughout her life. An avid writer and humorous poet, she always remembered the special occasions of friends and extended family with a poem, letter, email or card. Even when she was unable to write due to failing health, she continued to write and remember others with the assistance of her caretakers. She retired from First of Georgia Insurance Company.
Her beloved daughter, Lori, who was the mother of two of her grandchildren, Justin and Heather, preceded her in death. Family members in addition to her husband include, two sons and their wives, Kenneth Hennings, Jr. (Kathryn) and Robert Hennings (Paula); granddaughter Mary Hennings Bernat (Michael) and great-grandson Thomas; grandson Justin Toole (Christie) and great-grandsons Shane and Jaxson; granddaughter Heather Toole; grandsons Ross Hennings, Zachary Hennings, and Dylan Hennings.
