NEW ELLENTON -- Mrs. Edna R. Walton Yon, 86, entered into rest Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009.
She was born in Saluda County, the daughter of the late Thomas Pierce and Ellie Odessa Powell Walton. Mrs. Yon is survived by her husband of 65 years, Mr. Bennie William "B.W." Yon; children, Bennie (Dianne) Yon of Cowpens, Jerry William (Loreli) Yon of Petersburg, Ind., Charlie Carol Yon of New Ellenton, Barbara Ingram of New Ellenton and Sarah (Gene) Baxley of Olar; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, George Hammond Walton of Springfield; and sisters, Ellie Hoover of Wagener, Bobbie (Ralph) Rodgers of Saluda and Neva Howard of Batesburg.
Mrs. Yon was minister of the S.C. Pentecostal Holiness Conference, having served at Green Branch P.H.C., Wagener P.H.C., Hampton P.H.C., as well as Bell Chapel P.H.C. in Olar.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 Main St. S., Wagener, (803) 564-5333. The funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Fountain of Life Fellowship in Aiken with the Rev. Lonnie Brazell and the Rev. James McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. An online register is available at www.blizzardfuneralhome.com.
