Kathryn Floy Crosetto Sefchick
Kathryn Floy Crosetto Sefchick of Aiken, and formerly of Bellefonte, Pa., died Nov. 23, 2009, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
She was born on March 1, 1936, to the late Frances Husted Crosetto and John Roger Crosetto of Wellsboro, Pa. She was a 1954 graduate of Wellsboro High School and a 1958 graduate of Rollins College, Fla. In 1959, she married William Sefchick, in Clarence, Pa. Prior to starting a family, she was an elementary school teacher. She and William moved to Bellefonte in 1966 and for several years she worked as a teacher's aide at Bellefonte High School. After her husband's death in 1974, she enrolled in South Hills Business School and began a 23-year career at Penn State University. While at Penn State, she worked in the Department of Mineral Economics, the Office of Special Events and in the Dean's Office of Health and Human Development.
Sefchick enjoyed singing as a former member of the Sweet Adelines. She was a fan of Penn State football and women's volleyball. Mostly she enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren, of whom she was very proud. She will be remembered as a kind, loving mother, grandmother and friend to all.
She is survived by her son, William Sefchick and his wife Shelia, of Pelham, N.Y.; her daughter, Mary Sefchick Frei, and her husband Wayne, of Aiken; grandchildren, Liam and Evan Sefchick, Will Connor, Katie Lane, Caroline and Kyle Frei. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Beverly Crosetto of Wellsboro, Pa., and Springfield Hill, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Margaret Stemple; brother-in-law, Jim Sefchick; and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren. The family will receive friends after the service in Smith Hall. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center is assisting the family. A Funeral Mass and interment will take place at a later date at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Bellefonte, Pa.
If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop St, Bellefonte, PA, 16823 or to a local chapter of the American Heart Association.
