Robert Shipman
Mr. Robert L. Shipman, of Williston Road, entered into rest Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Union Missionary Baptist Church, Barnwell, with the Rev. John W. Dingle officiating. Burial will be at church cemetery. He was a native of Barnwell County; a retired employee of General Motors, formerly known as Flint Truck Assembly Local 598, after 32 years; and a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors are two daughters, Jacqueline (Braxton) Tinker of Stewartstown, Pa., and Doretha (Alvin) Phillips of Blanc, Mich.; a son, Bruce Simmons of Norfolk, Va.; three stepdaughters, Delores Harris of Clinton, Mich., Anna Burwell of Great Neck, N.Y., and Jennie Mason of Gaithersburg, Md.; two sisters, Juanita Johnson and Nellie Kiles of Augusta; one brother, Calvin Shipman of Augusta; 13 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home, Augusta.
