Julia Lewis
BATH -- Mrs. Julia Harris Lewis, 77, of Bath, wife of the late Carlos Edwin Lewis and daughter of the late Adam and Katherine Edwards Harris, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009.
Born in Trenton, she lived most of her adult life in Aiken County, where she retired from the Swint Division of Graniteville Company after 39 years of service. Prior to her health declining, she was very active in her church, New Hope Gospel Chapel, of which she was a charter member. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her sewing throughout the Valley.
Family members include her children, Marilyn R. Swearingen of Greensboro, N.C., Larry E. Lewis (Janice) of Ridge Spring, Thurmond Greg Lewis (Judy) of North Augusta and Carlos L. Lewis (Jeanne) of Edgefield; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at 3 p.m. at the graveside in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, with Pastor Bob Still and Bishop Phillip Napier officiating.
The family has asked that memorials in memory of Mrs. Lewis be made to Regency Hospice, 105 Summerwood Way, Aiken, SC 29803.
The family will greet friends Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, from 1 until 2:45 p.m. at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Highway 1, Langley.
