Deputies hunt for two teens in armed robbery 11/21/2008 9:17 PM By KAREN DAILY Staff writer
The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is searching for two teenagers, who investigators say robbed the Broadwater Convenience Store on Green Pond Road and fired several shots into the ceiling before they took off, officials said.
At 10 p.m. Thursday, the two men, one armed with a sawed-off shotgun and the other with a revolver, ran into the store and demanded money from the register, said Lt. Michael Frank, a spokesperson for the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
The men made off with the cash and grabbed several packs of cigarettes on their way out.
As the teenagers were about to leave, Frank said, one of the teens ordered the clerk to lie face down on the floor. The gunman then fired the shotgun into the ceiling, the lieutenant added.
Deputies said they observed several bullet holes in a paper towel holder when they responded to investigate.
No one was injured.
The Aiken Bloodhound Tracking Team responded and tracked the individuals toward Chavous Road.
The first suspect is described as a black male, between 16 to 18 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall and about 130 pounds. He was armed with a revolver.
The second gunman is described as a black male, between 16 to 18 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall and about 150 pounds. He was armed with a sawed-off shotgun.
Both men had their faces covered.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Aiken County Sheriff's Office at (800) 922-9709. Individuals also should call CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at (888) CRIME-SC. Callers can remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of between $50 and $1,000.
