Man held in Warrenville murder 11/21/2009 12:04 AM
By KAREN DAILY Staff writer
An Aiken County man is being held at the Aiken County detention center for murder in connection with the death of a 68-year-old Warrenville man.
Pete Joel Williams, 32, was arrested Friday night.
John Barrs, 68, died from a severe head injury from blunt force trauma, which was caused by an unknown weapon, said Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.
"It appeared that Mr. Barrs died between 8 p.m. (Thursday) and early Friday morning," Carlton said.
A caretaker, Tina Cooper, looked after him.
Carlton said Cooper found the body.
About 8:15 a.m. Friday, she walked to his residence and noticed the front door was "unsecured." She went inside and found Barrs lying face down in blood.
She yelled for help and a neighbor entered the man's home with her.
Cooper rolled him over to see whether he was breathing while a neighbor called 911.
He was not breathing.
When deputies arrived, they searched the home and determined that no one else was at the residence.
There were no signs of forced entry, according to the report.
Deputies have not said whether anything was stolen from the residence nor have they explained what might be a motive for the crime.

Comment Title: Stupid post
When is the white community going to stand up and encourage and advocate education and respect and personal responsibility and denounce the violent thuggery and gang and street cred culture?
This is the same message some idiot posts to AS everytime a black man makes the headlines. I changed it from 'black' to 'white'. Funny how he never posts this when a white man makes headlines.
You are a cowardice, bigoted fool.

Have you ever been to the Valley? It is standard protocol down there to go shirtless and show up your beer gut.

Aiken needs to put the stocks and guillotine back out downtown and start executing these worthless felons weekly. ALL convicted violent felons need to be put to death. They can't be rehabilitated and there is no sense in long prison sentences that waste taxpayer money. Time for personal responsibility and crime deterrence and stop all the robberies and murders in Aiken.

THANK YOU ACSO FOR ARRESTING THIS MURDERER SO SOON. THERE IS SO MANY UNSOLVED CRIMES AND MURDERS, IT IS GOOD TO HAVE THIS GUY OFF THE STREETS. IT IS SO SAD FOR MR. BARR'S FAMILY AND TO HIS CARETAKER TO FIND THIS MAN THIS WAY. SHE CARED FOR THIS MAN AND TO FIND HIM HAD TO BE JUST AWFUL. I PRAY FOR THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF MR. BARR'S AND TO TINA COOPER.
