Staff writer

Aiken County Sheriff's Office investigators seized nearly $50,000 in drug money when they served a search warrant at a Langley home Monday.

Gerald Courson, 49, of Dunbar Street in Langley, is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, distribution of methamphetamine, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a firearm with a removed/obliterated serial number, possession of marijuana and four counts of possession of a controlled substance.

During the search, which was a result of a CrimeStoppers tip, investigators arrested Courson and two others for a variety of narcotics charges, said Sgt, Dave Myers, a sheriff's office spokesperson.

Deputies seized marijuana, a variety of pills, methamphetamines, drug paraphernalia, two shot guns, a handgun and about $49,000 cash.

Once there, they also found Lisa Smith, 38, of 323 Edisto Ave. in Beech Island, who is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Julie Hydrick, 23, of 39 Buckskin Court in Warrenville, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to arrest warrants, on Monday, Courson was armed with a firearm or knife while he was reportedly trafficking in meth.

Comment Title: Give him life!!!!
This ruthless criminal should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. He defines the word "THUG" and should be treated as one. How dare this criminal traffic drugs and carry arms in my beautiful county!! He should be drugged from his jail cell and hung in the center of town!! Everyone in that house should have been charged with the drugs and guns just like they do when they make a drug bust on Hampton ave. These meth selling rednecks are menaces to society and should never see another free day in their filthy lives. These people are why the quality of living in Aiken county has declined so much. Kill'em I say, take them out behind the jail and line them up infront of a firing squad and let'em have it!!!

Good job narcotics officers for arresting people like this. Now if the solicitors office would charge some of these people, maybe they wouldn't care if they get arrested or not. If they would do some jail time instead of getting a slap on the hand, they might think twice.

Comment Title: Great Community Involvement
Praise God for the neighborhood who called Crimestoppers to report this activity. If we all got involved, we could really help to clean up our county. As President Obama said earlier this year, we all have to work together to see a change in discouraging crime.
