Man dies after being hit by car
A North Augusta man died Sunday afternoon from multiple body trauma after being struck by a vehicle on Seymour Drive while he was doing yard work by his home.
William Adams, 72, was transported to the Medical College of Georgia Shock/Trauma unit, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim was struck by a 2002 Ford Taurus driven by Chatrice Evans, also of Seymour Drive.
Adams was trimming plants and bushes and stacking them near the roadway when the incident occurred, according to witnesses.
The collision between the vehicle and the victim is being investigated by the North Augusta Department of Public Safety and the Aiken County Coroner's Office.
It is the 33rd traffic fatality in Aiken County in 2009.
