Guest artists will perform at USCA 10/29/2009 12:34 AM The USC Aiken jazz band and percussion ensemble will join two guest artists in concert at the Etherredge Center tonight at 8 p.m.
The USCA musicians, directed by professor Lauren Meccia, will be joined by the husband-and-wife team of vibraphonist Jerry Tachoir and pianist Marlene Tachoir.
Admission is $7 for the general public. Students will be admitted for free with their student IDs.
The percussion ensemble will feature Jerry Tachoir on a composition titled "Gibbance," written by his wife. The jazz band also will be joined by the Tachoirs for several favorite standards.
Tachoir is an international touring and recording artist and leader of the Group Tachoir, a jazz quartet. He will lead a master class at the Etherredge Center on Wednesday at 6 p.m. That session is free to the public.
Women's group to have luncheon
The Aiken Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hold a luncheon meeting on Monday, Nov. 9, at 11:30 a.m. at USC Aiken's Business and Education Building, room 116.
Dr. Liz Stewart of Liz Stewart and Associates will be the guest speaker. The cost is $8. Reservations must be in by Friday. For more information and reservations, call 642-7170, 642-7858 or 641-9505.
