Second woman surrenders to police
A second area women accused of forging a check stolen from an area college last month turned herself in to the authorities Thursday, officials said.
Lucendia L. Randolph, 25, of 507 Sundy Ave., Aiken, will be charged with forgery.
The fraud was discovered last month when the student for whom the $1,900 check was intended never received it in the mail, said Lt. Michael Frank, a spokesperson with the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
On Tuesday, an 18-year-old woman also linked to the crime surrendered to the authorities.
Register today for women's luncheon
Aiken Christian Women's Connection will begin on Tuesday with "Pot Luck Country Fair" at Southside Gallery, 752 Silver Bluff Road.
Craft and baked goods donations will begin at 10 a.m., shopping at 10:45, and the luncheon will be from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be silent and live auctions. The ladies are excited about the new location. The cost is $15 for lunch, and a free preschool nursery is provided with a reservation if requested. Reservations can be made by calling Onesta at 648-0649 or Shirley at 649-6697. Deadline for luncheon reservations is today.
The speaker will be Charity Brooker of Roswell, Ga., who will delight the attendees with her story of "What Do Women REALLY Want?"
City to discuss area revitalization
The City of Aiken Neighborhood & Development Services will meet on Monday for residents and citizens to discuss the revitalization work in the Edgewood neighborhood. For more information, call 642-7779.
Vaughters to talk on osteoporosis
The Aiken Augusta Essential Tremor Support Group will meet Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Trail Ridge Road. Dr. Bauer Vaughters will be the guest speaker. His topic will be osteoporosis. Guests are welcome. For more information, call Bill Rundorf at 641-0393.

New Ellenton's regular City Council meeting on Monday at 7 p.m. at New Ellenton City Hall.
Ben Franklin event
to be held tonight
The Aiken County Historical Museum will host “An Evening with Ben Franklin” today at 7:30 p.m. in the museum ballroom. For more information or to make a reservation, call 642-2015. Tickets are $10 per person.
Croft House
takes nut orders
The Croft House is now taking orders for its annual Atwell freshly shelled pecans and walnuts holiday fundraiser. Orders will be taken at the Croft House Monday through Saturday. No phone calls please. Cash or check required at the time of ordering. Orders will be taken through Dec. 5.
Proceeds benefit the Croft House Resident Fund.

to play bingo
The Courtney Senior Center will hold bingo today and Friday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m.
This will be a free program.
