The weekend is jam-packed with family-fun events around Aiken County. Here are a few possibilities for entertainment.
Today
* U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., will attend a town meeting rally from noon to 2 p.m. at the Republican Party Headquarters, 127 Greenville St.
* The Hooves and Hounds Extravaganza will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Equine Rescue of Aiken's Haven Hills Farm, 532 Glenwood Drive, to raise funds for Equine Rescue of Aiken and the Aiken SPCA. Admission is free.
* A youth rally to eliminate youth violence will take place from noon to 5 p.m. at Second Baptist Christian Preparatory School, 343 Laurens St.
* An Equestrian Expo will raise funds for Aiken SPCA and Equine Rescue of Aiken from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Plains of Aiken. Admission is free but donations will be accepted. To get to The Plains of Aiken, take Wire Road, bear right on Cooks Bridge Road and make a left on Zane Trace toward the covered arena.
* The 2009 Fall Herb Faire is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pascalina, 3250 Charleston Highway, Montmorenci. The event is free and open to the public.
* The Aiken Bridge Club's annual Fall Sectional Tournament continues at 10 a.m. at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center, 1700 Whiskey Road. The tournament is expected to draw in about 200 players from the region.
* The Aiken Mini-Fest bluegrass festival will take place at the Whitney Polo Field on Mead Avenue, with gates opening at 3 p.m. and music from 4 to 10 p.m. Admission is by donation; proceeds support operating expenses for the 2010 Aiken Bluegrass Festival in May.
* The Exotic Bird Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Aiken Fairgrounds, 1566 Columbia Highway N. Admission is $5 per person.
* The Aiken Community Playhouse presents "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" at 8 p.m. at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 126 Newberry St.

Comment Title: Absolutely Appropriate!
In response to the comment wondering if it was appropriate to bill Joe wilson's appearance in Aiken as Family Fun...absolutely! It is about time we show our children that there are politicians in Washington who are not afraid to stand against the majority even when the majority is blatantly lying to us as Americans!
