Equestrian expo will benefit SPCA
It's an opportunity for prospective home owners to learn more about some of the equestrian communities and their amenities. An Equestrian Expo will be held tomorrow from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Plains of Aiken, and will serve as a charity benefit for the Aiken SPCA and Equine Rescue of Aiken.
"The goal of the Equestrian Expo is to acquaint people to the many equestrian communities and amenities that are available in Aiken," said Pam Thompson, Laissez Faire Sotheby's International Realty. "Saturday's event will showcase the covered arena at The Plains of Aiken. We love Aiken and during these challenging times the equestrian realtors have to work together."
There will be a number of information tables set up during the Equestrian Expo, where people will have the chance to learn more about the area and its equine diversity, while having the opportunity to enjoy show jumping exhibitions by Drasius Arkus and J.F. Gagne, a side saddle exhibition by Aiken Ladies Aside and an eventing exhibition by Lellie Ward.
The family-oriented environment will include carriage rides and refreshments. Sundowner Trailers of Aiken will among those with an information booth at the event. Future plans call for similar events to be held at some of the other equestrian communities, said Thompson.
"It's a chance for those who are visiting Aiken to come out and see the wonderful facilities, and see that they can be used for exhibitions and competitions," said Thompson. "It's also a demonstration of the spirit of cooperation between the equestrian realtors in Aiken."
Admission is free but donations will be accepted.
To get to The Plains of Aiken, take Wire Road, bear right on Cooks Bridge Road, and make a left on Zane Trace toward the covered arena. xx
