Area students win scholarships at recent CSRA College Night event
More than 7,000 students from local high schools attended the Central Savannah River Area College Night event earlier this month, where 15 students won scholarships.
The event, which was co-sponsored by Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, the U.S. Department of Energy and SRP Federal Credit Union, featured representatives from more than 160 colleges, universities and professional societies.
Scholarships, which totaled approximately $17,000, were awarded to Lindsey Wilk and Ashley Blaylock from North Augusta High School, Michael Pallon and David Wesley Griffith of South Aiken High School, Rictavis Harris from Strom Thurmond High School, Lisa Williams from Ridge Spring-Monetta High School and McKinley Ready from Patrick Henry Academy.
Winners also included Robert Slaughter from Davidson Fine Arts, Candace Mack from Hephzibah High School, Leah Logan from Cross Creek High School, La Robin Carter from Laney Walker High School, D'Marius Taylor from Glenn Hills High School, Dewaski Martin and Jalain Howard from Washington County High School and Kimberly Ivey from Warren County High School.
The students who won scholarships were juniors and seniors with a grade point average of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale.
