Are you the Mega Millions winner?
A top prize-winning Mega Millions lottery ticket sold at the Kent's Korner at 678 East Pine Log Road has gone unclaimed.
The $250,000 winning ticket matched all five white ball numbers in the July 16 Mega Millions drawing but just missed the Megaball.
The winning numbers are 2, 15, 18, 20 and 39, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery. The gold Megaball was 34. The player did not purchase the Megaplier, which was 3. If the player had purchased the Megaplier for $1, the winnings would have been multiplied by 3.
Mega Millions is played in South Carolina and 39 other states. The $64 million jackpot-winning ticket was sold in California.
The ticket that successfully matched the winning combination - 2, 15, 18, 20, 39 and Mega number 34 - was sold at Smoke N' Stuff, which is located at 750 West 7th Street in Los Angeles, according to the California Lottery's website.
As of press time Tuesday, it had also gone unclaimed.
Had the player who purchased the winning ticket in Aiken correctly picked the Megaball number, he or she would have split the $64 million with the player who purchased the jackpot winning ticket in California.
S.C. Education Lottery spokeswoman Stephanie Hemminghaus said winners cite a variety of reasons for not rushing to claim their prize.
"They have either said that they're in no hurry or they didn't know they had a winning ticket," she said.
Approximately 32 percent in state and federal taxes will be withheld from the player's total take-home amount, according to Hemminghaus.
The Kent's Korner will receive a 1 percent - or $2,500 - winning ticket bonus when the prize is claimed.
The S.C. Education Lottery urges players to check their numbers carefully.
The winning $250,000 ticket can be claimed at a Education Lottery Claims Center in Columbia, Greenville or Mt. Pleasant.
Winning ticket holders have 180 days from the day of the drawing to claim their prizes.
More than 5,100 tickets sold in South Carolina were winners with prizes from $2 up to the $250,000 match 5 prize.
