Audition for 'Tony N' Tina's Wedding'
Tony and Tina are getting married, and you are invited.
"Tony N' Tina's Wedding" holds the distinction of being the longest running show in off-Broadway history. Debuting in 1988, the show is one big party combining improvisational and interactive play where the audience plays the role of the wedding guests.
The show was performed at the Aiken Center for the Arts nearly five years ago and has been requested numerous times for an encore performance.
"Everyone has been hoping for repeat performances of 'Tony N' Tina's Wedding' since their smashing success in Aiken in the fall of 2004," said Kristin Brown, executive director of the ACA.
The play returns to Aiken Sept. 16-19 at 7 p.m. and Sept. 20 at 6 p.m.
Mark Nassar, playwright, actor and director, and his group of New York thespians will be joined by approximately 10 Aikenites to deliver a performance that will have the town talking.
Auditions for the 10 roles will be held at the ACA on Wednesday, July 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, July 30 from 4 to 6 p.m. No prior preparation is necessary for the auditions.
In September, the wedding will be performed at the ACA with the reception to follow at Newberry Hall. Tickets range from $65 to $85, and a table for eight may be purchased. Tickets will be available starting Wednesday at the ACA by calling 641-9094. The event will benefit the USCA Theatre Ambassadors and the ACA.
