Triangle Dodge in Aiken now selling Chrysler, Jeep

Chrysler and Jeep cars are available again in Aiken County.

Triangle Dodge announced it has been awarded a Chrysler-Jeep franchise, meaning it will sell and service Chrysler and Jeep vehicles.

Prospective buyers have had to drive outside Aiken County to find Chrysler or Jeep models since Dick Smith Chrysler-Jeep closed in May upon the news that Chrysler was shuttering more than 700 dealerships across the country as part of its restructuring effort.

Dealership owner Lynn Brisson said Triangle Dodge signed a letter of intent to obtain the franchise after Dick Smith closed and was awarded it late last week.

As part of the letter of intent, the Graniteville-based dealership had to provide evidence of pending qualifications.

"We are able to jump all the hurdles. It is nice to be chosen. Everybody is very excited," Brisson said. "We have seen an influx like you wouldn't believe. This is a new beginning for everybody."

Triangle Dodge Chrysler-Jeep, which the dealership will now be known as, has already purchased a few models for its lot and is expecting a shipment soon.

About a month ago, news spread that Chrysler and GM dealerships were reeling from the poor financial conditions of their U.S. automaker parents. GM filed for bankruptcy June 1.

Five days ago, GM reported it received U.S. Bankruptcy Court approval of $33.3 billion in debtor in possession (DIP) financing from the U.S. Treasury and the Canadian and Ontario governments.

According to a press release, the credit facility will be used, among other things, for the company's normal liquidity requirements, including employee wages, health care benefits, supplier payments and other general operating expenses.

Comment Title: Heath - Salesman
Bought a car for my wife from Triangle. Great place to shop and not get hassled or followed around. Heath was our salesman and was great.
