Local news in brief for May 21
A Warrenville woman was pronounced dead Wednesday at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, the Aiken County Coroner's Office reported.
Tonya Bragg, age unavailable, was the driver of a 2006 Nissan Altima involved in a single-car crash near Wagener on Friday. She remained hospitalized until her death, said Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.
The car she was driving crashed about eight miles east of Wagener on Poplar Springs Road.
Alcohol and speed were considered contributing factors in this 11th fatal crash of 2009, Carlton added.
Bragg was not wearing her seat belt and died from multiple body trauma.
