Number of road projects on slate
Workers with the South Carolina Department of Transportation will be doing roadwork on I-20 next week, according to Jeff Terry, the resident construction engineer with SCDOT.
He said the concrete pavement patching will be done between exit 5 and the river, which will result in road closures overnight in both the east- and westbound lanes throughout the week.
The state recently kicked off its road paving work for this year with projects along parts of Silver Bluff Road, University Parkway and Hampton Street for much of this week. Terry said the state has plans for several road improvements in Aiken County through this summer.
A number of projects have already been scheduled to clean and seal cracks in the pavement, totalling $6.4 million. According to Terry, the roadwork will not be paid for with stimulus funds and was already scheduled to be done.
