Man dies from injuries in crash
A 65-year-old Augusta man was pronounced dead Tuesday at a Georgia hospital from injuries he suffered in a Feb. 26 crash in North Augusta, said Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.
Ray Carr was pronounced dead at 5:25 p.m. from a head injury.
The crash involved two vehicles.
Carr was driving a 1989 Oldsmobile north on Jefferson Davis Highway when he was struck by a 2000 Chevrolet work truck that was attempting to cross over the northbound lane into the Riverfront Antique Mall parking lot, according to the coroner's office.
The driver of the work truck apparently failed to yield the right of way to Mr. Carr's vehicle, Carlton said.
Neither alcohol nor speed were factors in this crash.
Carr was wearing a seat belt. His death is the fourth traffic fatality in Aiken County this year.
Charges are pending, according to the North Augusta Department of Public Safety.
