An Evans, Ga., man was arrested late last week on allegations he tried to entice a person identifying herself as a 14-year-old he met on MySpace to meet him for sex, officials said.

Joshua David Taylor, 21, of Holly Hill Road, was arrested on Feb. 18 as part of an Internet predator case investigated by the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, according to Henry McMaster, South Carolina's attorney general.

Taylor was arrested on one count of criminal solicitation of a minor, a felony offense punishable by 10 years of imprisonment.

Sgt. Dave Myers, a spokesperson for the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, said the victim was not a deputy posing as a 14-year-old, but was a juvenile.

An arrest warrant alleges that beginning on or about Jan. 15, Taylor used MySpace to solicit sexual intercourse from an individual identifying herself as a 14-year-old girl.

"Taylor went on to arrange a meeting with the girl for the purpose of sexual intercourse. Before a meeting could take place, the case came to the attention of the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, and a request to MySpace produced information leading to Taylor," according to McMaster's office.

Deputies with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office in Georgia executed a search warrant at Taylor's residence.

They seized a desktop computer and two laptop computers.

Taylor's bond was set at $5,000.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.
