Golf event to raise money for good cause
Aiken County Habitat for Humanity's next Women Build house is being co-sponsored by the Women of Woodside.
To help raise money for the project, the group is hosting a golf tournament, "The WOW Cup," to be held on Monday, March 16. The tournament will be played on the Woodside Jones course and The Reserve at Woodside course.
The entry fee for a team of four players is $400, which includes lunch, beverages on the course and a buffet dinner following the tournament.
In addition to the tournament event, a players' reception and live silent auctions (where participants can "buy a pro" to help their team) will be held on Sunday, March 15 at The Reserve Club. The awards presentation will be held at the Woodside Club following the golf event.
This tournament is expected to draw a large number of participants while providing the maximum amount possible to Aiken County Habitat for Humanity.
Women of Woodside is a not-for-profit organization comprised of over 700 women who are residents of Woodside Plantation or who are in the process of building their homes in Woodside. The main purpose of the Women of Woodside is to support the community by raising funds for charitable organizations and by performing volunteer work. In the past, Women of Woodside fund-raising efforts have helped such community organizations as ACTS, the Aiken Council on Aging, the Cumbee Center, Helping Hands and United Way's Project Vision.
In order to make this golf tournament a success, the Women of Woodside are seeking local business sponsors who will have the opportunity to participate as course sponsors, hole-in-one sponsors, beverage cart sponsors, hole sponsors and putting tournament sponsors. Business sponsor names will be highlighted during the event, which will include many influential residents of the Aiken area. Carriage Hills Living Center is the tournament sponsor this year.
Aiken County Habitat for Humanity is a Christian, ecumenical organization whose mission is to eliminate substandard and poverty housing in Aiken County.
The organization is beginning its 21st year in Aiken County and has completed 73 houses.
This Women Build house will be the fourth for Aiken County.
