LETTERS: Senate is the problem
I appreciate your attentiveness to the state political system and your editorials that appear. However, I am writing in response to today's editorial, "Shorten the legislative sessions."
It seems you have the accent on the wrong syllable. Just read Rep. Bill Taylor's and Rep. Tom Young's newsletters and you will know without a doubt that the House is doing a stellar job working for the state of South Carolina. Your focus ought to be on the state senate where bickering and stalemating is going on, where it seems they are in the business of stalling the house's actions by no action. Where is their on the record voting? A voice vote for Amazon in the Senate - give me a break! I know we need a new president for 2012, but South Carolina needs a new, supportive, cooperative Senate in 2012 as well. Shortening the sessions? I believe the House is only going back to work on delays by the Senate. The session ought to be as long as it needs to be to get the work done by a cooperative, supportive, well meaning people that represent South Carolina. Only those in the sessions know how long that should be.
