LETTER: Exposing the truth for Haley
After reading several e-mails about Nikki Haley's voting record, I had to write a letter to try and set the record straight.
I have followed all the campaigns closely and done extensive research on the stimulus issue. I found that Nikki Haley is the only person running for governor to not only vote against the Obama stimulus package, but also to publicly denounce any stimulus spending. You can see her vote for yourself by looking in the House Journal - Nikki was one of 18 state representatives who voted against the stimulus spending on May 12.
Then, in the January gubernatorial debate, she was the only candidate who said that she would return the stimulus money because it would only increase our state's debt. I would have to agree with Rep. Haley that the last thing South Carolina needs in this economic recession is more debt.
I hope other voters will follow my lead and explore the truth about this issue.
