Sample delicious recipes at Taste of Newberry
It's a Taste of Newberry on Friday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Square in the heart of historic downtown Newberry.
Newberry is fast becoming one of the state's major destinations for its fine dining, and each of the great chefs will be featuring their most delicious recipes.
In the past, Steven W's has featured bite-sized beef Wellingtons and seafood crepes, Delamater's has featured seared scallops and she crab soup and the Blue Moon has offered succulent ribs. The Palms has highlighted shrimp and grits and, all in all, the variety is awesome. There is not a funnel cake in sight.
Food ranges from Egyptian pizza to succulent ribs to fried pickles to tea cakes and cucumber sandwiches. There will be a gracious plenty of desserts, home-baked cakes and pies, and lots to tempt the most discerning palates.
There will be wide choices of drinks, from fine teas to exotic beers to a great selection of wines. Featured wines will include those from Ben Arnold and Newberry's own local winery, Enoree River Vineyards.
Dollar tickets will be sold on the square and redeemable for "tastes" from the superb chefs.
A special concert in Memorial Park by Doug and Bunny Williams will accompany the feasting.
For more information, call the Newberry Opera House box office at (803) 276-5179 or visit www.newberryoperahouse.com.
