Sometimes our wishes aren't as good as we think.

A new children's book "Princess Prissypants Wishes the World Pink" written by Ashley Putnam Evans teaches a life lesson to her young readers.

When a little girl named Princess Prissypants wishes the world pink, she realizes after a touch of stubbornness that not everything we wish for is the best. She learns things don't always turn out the way she planned and that other colors create beauty and add to the adventure of life.

Princess Prissypants is a little girl with big birthday dreams. She wants to see the world pink, and she doesn't care what anyone else thinks. She wants her wish to come true no matter what.

The book is written in rhyming verse that makes it fun to read aloud. The tale sets forth a little girl with whom others can relate. The little girl is independent, curious, courageous and has fully embraced her inner princess.

She learns a life lesson the hard way, and readers can laugh as they absorb the message of learning to appreciate the beauty of the world exactly as it is without changes that fit personal whims.

Evans, the writer, lives in Lake Wylie with her family. Her two daughters offer inspiration for the Princess Prissypants character. A writer since childhood, Evan's stories spans many genres including children's fiction, women's fiction, non-fiction, essays, poetry and novels. After the birth of her first daughter, Evans began to focus her writing on children's themes.

On Saturday, Evans will be at The Book Stall in Aiken for a book signing The event starts at 11 a.m. and will offer a place to pick up a copy of the new book for your own Princess Prissypants.

Each page is packed with magnificent imagery that will keep little girls eager to see what's on the next page. Illustrator Martha-Elizabeth Ferguson of Scotland is a visual artist, illustrator and designer whose work is in many international, corporate, museum and private collections. In 2003, the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston created an archive of her career.
