SILVER SPRINGS, Md. -- After several months of illness, Deaconess Matilda J. Mosley entered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning, July 8, 2008, at Manor Care Nursing Facility, Silver Springs, Md.
Deaconess Mosley was a native of Edgefield and the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lucious (Angeline Nicholson) Young Sr. She attended the public schools of Edgefield County and graduated from Bettis Academy High School in Trenton.
For more than 70 years, Deaconess Mosley had resided in the Washington/Maryland metropolitan area. She was a devoted member of Canaan Baptist Church where she served many years as a member of the Ladies Guild. She was a devoted member of the Missionary Board and the Deaconess Board. In addition, she thoroughly enjoyed working with the Tuesday Feeding Groups. Deaconess Mosley enjoyed the honor bestowed upon her by Pastor Cornelius Carter Jr. as "mother."
She leaves to mourn her passing a brother, Samuel Young Sr. of Edgefield; two sisters, Mrs. Juliette Young Bynoe of Columbia and Mrs. Katie Young Green of New Britain, Conn.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Marshall Funeral Home, Washington, D.C., and local arrangements by Miller's Funeral Home.
